Shire of East Pilbara Launches Owner Occupier Incentive Scheme

In a first for Western Australia, the Shire of East Pilbara has introduced a new Owner Occupier Incentive Scheme to encourage more people to make the East Pilbara their home, supporting population growth and stronger, more connected communities.

From 1 August 2025 to 30 June 2026, eligible property owners who live in their own homes in the Shire can apply to receive a $200 incentive payment.

Shire President Cr Anthony Middleton said the initiative was designed to reward those choosing to live locally and invest in the future of the East Pilbara.

“Our communities thrive when people call the East Pilbara home. This scheme recognises the contribution of owner-occupiers and provides a small financial boost to those who are part of our towns every day,” Cr Middleton said.

The program provides a simple and transparent process for eligible residents to apply and receive the incentive annually. By supporting owner-occupiers, the Shire aims to build long-term community stability, encourage stronger local engagement, and recognise the important role that residents play in shaping the future of the region.

Eligibility

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be the registered owner of a property in the Shire of East Pilbara.
  • Live in the property as their primary residence.
  • Provide proof of address (such as a driver’s licence and utility bill) and a current rates notice.
  • Apply between 1 August 2025 and 30 June 2026.

Properties owned in the name of a company are not eligible, and each property is limited to one $200 incentive for the 2025/26 rate year.
