Local Government Elections are held every two years, on the third Saturday in October, with usually half of the Council seats becoming vacant on a biennial rotation, subject to other vacancies.

The next Shire of East Pilbara Local Government Election will be held on Saturday 16 October 2021.

In 2021, the following Elected Member positions will become vacant:

East Ward

Number of Positions: 1

New Terms to Expire: 2025

Annabell Landy - Elected unopposed

Central Ward

Number of Positions: 1

New Terms to Expire: 2025

Wendy McWhirter-Brooks - Elected unopposed

North Ward

Number of Positions: 1

New Terms to Expire: 2025

South Ward

Number of Positions: 4

Free WALGA Webinar for prospective councillor nominees.

While this webinar is not compulsory, this webinar is intended for Candidates who are considering nominating for election, and will prepare those who are successful in the election for life as a Council Member.

September 2-9: Nominations Open and Compulsory Induction

Call for Nominations

If you want to nominate for a councillor position, you MUST complete this 30-minute online induction provided by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

September 17 - October 16: Postal Voting

Commencement and lodgement of election packets begin in mid-September.

Keep an eye out in your mail box for the election packet so you can vote for your councillors.

People can complete their vote by post, and the last date to return via mail will be released shortly.

People can also drop off their ballot at the ballots in Marble Bar Shire Administration Office, Nullagine Library and Newman Shire Administration Office.

Postal Votes

October 16: Polls close

Polls Close 1pm in Marble Bar.

Polls Close 3pm in Nullagine.

Polls Close 6pm in Newman.
