East Pilbara History Appeal

Do you have a piece of East Pilbara history that could be part of a local history collection of our region? You’re encouraged to look for items and other records that together will form part of the history of the area.

The Shire of East Pilbara is developing a digital local history collection to preserve and celebrate our rich and diverse communities of Newman, Nullagine, Marble Bar and surrounding areas and is asking residents to search for items that may be suitable.

"We have an incredibly rich history in the East Pilbara and we are excited to invite our community to be involved as we assemble a comprehensive collection of our history," said Shire President Lynne Craigie.

"Can I encourage you to think about items you may have at home such as photographs, letters, diary pages, newspaper clippings and other documents such as wills, deeds, or essays and share them with us as we endeavour to record our story for many generations to come," she added.

There are multiple ways to get involved and contribute to the collection.

Thursday 31 May and Friday 1 June at Newman Library

Afternoon sessions from 2 - 4pm.
