Prescribed Burn - Marble Bar

Published on Tuesday, 26 May 2020 at 12:00:00 AM

The Department for Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) have identified high fire-risk fuel loads in the vicinity of Comet Mine Road, Contest Street and Halse Street within the Marble Bar town site. To provide increased protection for residents, properties and community assets in the event of an uncontrolled bush fire, a prescribed burn has been scheduled.

This prescribed burn is subject to the prevailing weather conditions and may be rescheduled to a later date. Due to additional factors including moisture levels and fuel loads, it may be necessary to undertaking burning of different areas at varying times.

Formal notification has been issued to residents of Nullagine via mail. To minimise the impact of smoke entering your home, please ensure evaporative air conditioners are turned off and all doors and windows are closed. For further information on prescribed burns conducted by DFES staff and volunteers, please visit the DFES website.

If you have any queries, please contact DFES Area officer Paul Maddern on 0409 174 042 or the Shire of East Pilbara Administration office on 9175 8000.
