The Shire of East Pilbara's Town Planning Department have the following notices.

Notice of Proposed Local Planning Policy No.10 ‘Home-Based Business’

In accordance with clause 4 of the Deemed Provisions for Local Planning Schemes, the local government gives notice that it has prepared proposed Local Planning Policy No.10 ‘Home-Based Business’ and seeks public comment prior to considering whether to proceed with the proposed policy.

The objectives of the proposed policy are to:

  1. Support home-based business within the Shire;
  2. Ensure home-based businesses are able to operate within the Shire in a manner that balances the economic and social benefits against ensuring residential amenity is protected; and
  3. Streamline planning processes in a manner that promotes the establishment and continued operation of home-based businesses where there is no impact on residential amenity.

Notice of Proposed Local Planning Policy No.11 ‘Advertising Signage’

In accordance with clause 4 of the Deemed Provisions for Local Planning Schemes, the local government gives notice that it has prepared proposed Local Planning Policy No.11 ‘Advertising Signage’ and seeks public comment prior to considering whether to proceed with the proposed policy.

The objectives of the proposed policy are to:

  1. Provide a consistent approach to signage within the Shire of East Pilbara;
  2. Ensure the type and size of signs is appropriate for the location;
  3. Manage the proliferation of advertisements;
  4. iv. Ensure advertisements do not adversely impact on traffic circulation and management, or pedestrian safety;
  5. Ensure advertisements are generally erected on land where the advertised business or sale of goods or service is being carried out; and
  6. Ensure signs are constructed and maintained to the essential standards of public safety.

Notice of Intention to Request Permanent Closure of Road Reserves

In accordance with clause 58(3) of the Land Administration Act 1997, the local government gives notice that it intends to request the Minister for Lands permanently closes the following road reserves:

  1. Unconstructed laneway abutting Lots 13-16 Cooke St, 147 Walters St and 148 and 235 Walker St, Nullagine; and
  2. Portion of Great Northern Highway verge area adjoining the Newman Waste Water Treatment Plant, Reserve 45776, Newman.

Prior to making a final decision, the local government invites comment on the proposed road closures.
