The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) has declared the results of the 2025 Ordinary Election for the Shire of East Pilbara.

In the South Ward, Peta Baer has been re-elected, joined by Troy Patching, who will serve his first term on Council.  In the North Ward, Wayne Ball has been elected as Councillor. In the East Ward, Annabell Landy was re-elected unopposed.

Shire President Cr Anthony Middleton congratulated all successful candidates and thanked outgoing Councillor David Everett, along with Cr Lee Anderson, who chose not to recontest this election.

“I’d like to congratulate Peta, Troy, Wayne and Annabell — and thank everyone who put their hand up to represent our community,” Cr Middleton said.

“A special thanks to David Evrett for his service over the years, and to Lee Anderson for his contribution on Council. Both have put in a lot of time and effort for the East Pilbara, and it’s greatly appreciated.”

“It’s great to see so many locals taking part in this election. Every vote matters, and I want to thank everyone who got involved.”

Voter participation in the North Ward reached 38.89 per cent — one of the strongest turnouts in the State. In the South Ward, participation was 19.96 per cent, almost double that of the previous election.

This year’s hybrid voting method, which allowed people to vote by mail or in person for the first time, proved a real success and helped make voting easier across the region.

The Shire also thanked the WA Electoral Commission for running the election and all community members who took part.
