New After-Hours Emergency Contact Number for the Shire of East Pilbara

Published on Monday, 2 November 2026 at 6:00:00 AM

The Shire of East Pilbara is introducing a new dedicated after-hours emergency contact number to make it easier for community members to report Shire-related emergencies outside normal business hours.

From 4:30pm on Friday, 6 November 2026, community members can call 1300 391 317 to report emergencies requiring the Shire's attention outside normal operating hours.

The new after-hours call centre will operate from 4:30pm on weekdays and throughout the weekend, providing a dedicated point of contact for emergencies that cannot reasonably wait until the next business day.

When should you call the after-hours number?

The after-hours service is intended for Shire-related emergencies that require urgent attention outside normal business hours.

Community members are encouraged to use the service appropriately so urgent matters can be prioritised and the Shire's after-hours resources directed to situations that require an emergency response.

The number is for emergencies only. General enquiries, routine service requests and non-urgent matters should continue to be directed to the Shire through its usual customer service channels during business hours.

After-hours Ranger services

The new after-hours number also provides access to assistance for urgent Ranger matters outside normal operating hours.

After-hours Ranger assistance is strictly limited to emergencies involving:

  • Serious dog attacks
  • Injured animals posing a public safety risk
  • Contained dogs requiring urgent removal due to safety concerns

These arrangements ensure the Ranger team can prioritise incidents that present an immediate risk to community safety.

General Ranger matters, including barking dogs, wandering pets, parking issues and littering, will be followed up during regular business hours. These issues should not be reported through the after-hours service unless they meet the emergency criteria outlined above.

The Shire appreciates the community's understanding and cooperation in helping ensure after-hours assistance is available for those who need it most.

Contacting the Shire during business hours

For general enquiries, routine requests, non-urgent Ranger matters and service follow-ups, please continue to contact the Shire through its usual customer service channels during business hours.

Using the appropriate contact channel helps ensure enquiries are directed to the relevant team and addressed through the Shire's normal service processes.

Save the new number

Community members are encouraged to save the new number in their phones so it is readily available if an after-hours emergency occurs.
