Marble Bar’s young people dodged the summer heat last Saturday for an action-packed community laser tag afternoon that turned the town’s Civic Centre into a laser tag battlefield.
Using tables, chairs, whiteboards and plenty of black plastic, the community built a maze of obstacles and made the most of what was on hand for a hugely successful event.
The afternoon also marked the arrival of brand-new laser tag equipment for Marble Bar, with plans already underway to run more sessions in the local park once temperatures cool down.
Shire of East Pilbara President Cr Anthony Middleton said the event showed the creativity and teamwork that small communities are known for.
“In towns like Marble Bar you learn pretty quickly how to make the most of what you’ve got,” Cr Middleton said.
“The team did a fantastic job transforming the Civic Centre and the kids showed real skill and teamwork. It was brilliant to see everyone getting involved and having fun.”
With the new equipment now available in town, the Shire hopes to run more laser tag events in the future, giving Marble Bar youth another way to stay active and connected.
