Community Notice – Newman Waste Facility Partially Closed

Published on Friday, 12 June 2026 at 10:08:22 AM

A huge thank you to everyone who has assisted with the ongoing fire response at the Newman Waste Management Facility.

We would like to acknowledge the incredible efforts of the Newman Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, East Pilbara Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, depot staff, contractors, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly around the clock to monitor conditions and help keep our community safe.

Your dedication, teamwork, and commitment during this challenging time are greatly appreciated. The support shown across our community has been outstanding.

At this stage, the fire has been contained, and crews are focused on ongoing suppression and monitoring. Due to the nature of the material involved, the fire is expected to continue smouldering and producing smoke over the coming weeks.

The Newman Waste Management Facility continues to monitor the fire site.

At this time, the facility can only accept:

  • Residential general waste and green waste
  • Green waste only (green waste containing additional waste types cannot be accepted)
  • Liquid waste

Unfortunately, trucks are still unable to access the tip as of 12 June 2026.

We thank the community for its patience and understanding while these restrictions remain in place, and we will continue to provide updates as they become available.
