Wayne Ball

Ward: North Ward

Wayne was born in Port Hedland and moved to Marble Bar soon after.

He returned to Port Hedland for schooling and then took a job in the pastoral industry, which led him back to Marble Bar, where he was employed by pastoralists working with cattle and sheep, as well as involved in some tin mining around Marble Bar.

Wayne said he learned a lot about living in the bush, where to find water, what to eat, and he has passed that knowledge on to his kids and grandchildren.

He moved back to Port Hedland when his three children went to school, but now his youngest daughter is 26.

He lives in Marble Bar, where he feels it is important to give back to community.

He has four grandsons and one granddaughter, and he also spends a fair bit of time in Nullagine, working and helping locals with advice if needed.

He is an elder in the town and also previously worked for Rio Tinto for 17 years
