Peta Baer

Ward: South Ward  

As a proud resident of Newman for over 22 years, Peta is deeply passionate about the town and the people who make it home. Peta has two young daughters and wants to help shape a community where they can thrive, in a town that is strong, connected and future-focused.

Previously, Peta has served as a councillor, guided by her commitment to transparency, good governance and ensuring community voices are at the centre of every decision. To strengthen her ability to serve, she completed a Diploma of Local Government and is currently completing a Master's of Community Development at Murdoch University.

Peta is Deputy Shire President and is actively involved in community life. As CEO of the Newman Community Centre, she also works closely with families, service providers and volunteers to deliver initiatives that improve the quality of life in the town.

She serves on the board of the Newman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and believes Newman is a town full of opportunity. She believes genuine community engagement sits at the heart of Council decisions.
