Rowan's Walk

Past Event

Rowan's Walk was initiated 6 years ago by young indigenous leader Mr. Rowan Dann.

Rowan found solace walking from Port Hedland to South Hedland after his Aunty took her life. In her memory, and in memory pf others that had taken their own lives, Rowan wanted to raise awareness of the mental health challenges in his community and to honor and remember those who had lost their life to suicide.

Where & When: Rowan's walk will be held in Newman at 6am on Friday 11 August 2023 to coincide with multiple towns across WA.

The walk will begin at 6am on Radio Hill, with buses leaving from Town Square from 5:30am to transport people to Radio Hill for the 6am start.

Route: Commencing at the top of Radio Hill, walkers then travel down the hill, turning left and around the hill to Forrest Avenue, along Forrest Avenue to the end, right onto Fortescue Avenue, left onto Mackay Street, across Newman Drive to Town Square.

*Walkers can also meet the group at the bottom of Radio Hill at 6:30am*
