Police and Rangers have a cooperative relationship when working to crack down on anti-social and inappropriate behaviour in the Shire of East Pilbara.

Several signs have been installed around the town centre and shopping precinct which detail what is unacceptable behaviour and what will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Shire of East Pilbara Rangers have adopted a proactive approach in the reduction of antisocial behaviour by maintaining a regular presence of known locations where antisocial behaviour may occur.

VANDALISM AND GRAFFITI

The Shire of East Pilbara maintains a zero tolerance approach regarding vandalism and graffiti.

Vandalism and/or damage to Council property is taken very seriously. For this reason, Council has developed a policy whereby a reward will be paid to any person giving information, which leads to the successful conviction of vandals who have wilfully damaged Council property.

The amount of the reward is $1,000, unless the cost of repairing the damage is less than $1,000. In that case, an appropriate amount will be set by the Chief Executive Officer. The amount of this reward is reviewed annually by Council.

CCTV IN THE SHIRE

CCTV cameras are situated at various locations throughout the Shire of East Pilbara.

CCTV installation has demonstrated a proven reduction in the amount of crime perpetrated and serves as a deterrent to potential offenders.

Careful consideration has been given to the location of CCTV within the Shire and information obtained from these installations has led to the identification and successful prosecution of offenders.

The Shire of East Pilbara takes pride in its cooperative relationship with the Western Australia Police in an attempt to reduce criminal activity. Where ever required the Shire will share information obtained with CCTV footage to authorities to assist with both the reduction of crime and or the apprehension of offenders.
