The Shire installed and delivered the $250,000 project, which also included an architecturally-designed shade structure. The project was made possible with funding from the Shire, Novo Resources and Lotterywest.
“We are very thankful to both our project partners for investing in the playground,” Shire President Anthony Middleton said.
“The new playground is an exciting facility we’ve added for Nullagine and is already getting a lot of use by the community.
“The project is just one example of how the Shire aims to improve livability throughout our region.”
The playground has many exciting features including a swing set, excavator, slide, balance platforms and climbing course, making it an enjoyable attraction for children of all ages.
Thanks to funding from Novo Resources and Lotterywest, the project also included a uniquely-designed winged shade structure in traditional Pilbara red-earth colours to keep the community out of the sun while enjoying the playground.
Novo Resources CEO Rob Humphryson said Novo was delighted to support initiatives that improve facilities and encourage the children of Nullagine to get out and get active in a fun environment.
“We’re indebted to the people of Nullagine for their patience, understanding and support during the ramp up of our operations at Beatons Creek on the northern outskirts of town,” he said.
“Support for the playground upgrade demonstrates our commitment to building a strong and mutually rewarding relationship with the local community.”
Member for Pilbara Kevin Michel MLA said the new playground was a significant asset and resource for the Nullagine community.
“It is fantastic to see both Local and State governments partnering with local industry to support East Pilbara communities,” he said.
