Elected Member's ComplaintS Register

All complaints made against Shire of East Pilbara Elected Members, that result in a finding by the Local Government Standards Panel (under section 5.110(2)(a) of the Local Government Act 1995 ) that a minor breach has occured, must be recorded in a register of complaints, and that register must be published on the Shire's website.

There are currently no complaints recorded against Elected Members.

Elected Member's Training Register

In accordance with s 5.127(1) of the Local Government Act 1995, a local government must prepare a report for each financial year on the training completed by council members in the financial year.  In addition, under s 5.127(2) the CEO must publish the report on the local government's website within 1 month after the end of the financial year to which the report relates.

Electoral Gift Register

In accordance with Regulation 30G of the Local Government (Elections) Regulations 1997, the CEO is to establish and maintain an electoral gift register.  In addition, in accordance with Regulation 30H, the public is to have access to the electoral gift register.  The register is available electronically and in hard copy at the Shire of East Pilbara offices.

On 20 October 2019, the new gifts framework contained within the Local Government Legislation Amendment Act 2019, came into operation.

In accordance with sections 5.87A and 5.87B of the Act, council members and CEO's are required to disclose gifts that are received in their capacity as a council membr or CEO and:
  • are valued over $300; or
  • are of a cumulative value that exceeds $300 where the gifts are received from the same donor within a 12 month period.
Contributions to travel costs, whether financially or not, will no longer be treated seperatley.

All gifts must be disclosed within 10 days and the CEO must publish an up-to-date register on the website.
