In the event of an emergency, the Shire's main role is to provide support and manage the recovery of the local community. The Shire of East Pilbara's emergency management committee and plans will be listed here.
Western Australia suffers from both natural and man-made disasters and emergencies of various types, all of which have the potential to threaten life and property within the community. During recent years these emergencies have included storms, floods, bush fires, building fires, hazardous chemical spills, serious transport crashes (rail, road and air), suspected terrorist or similar security incidents and missing people, air craft and vessels.
Emergency management is a range of measures to manage risks in the community environment. It involves the structures, arrangements and plans established to pull together the efforts of government, voluntary and private agencies in a comprehensive and coordinated way to deal with the whole spectrum of emergency or disaster needs.
