Fusion Photography Competition 2019 Print


The Shire of East Pilbara invites you to participate in “Fusion Photography Competition” 2019.

The purpose of this competition is to encourage East Pilbara residents, visitors and workers, of all ages and skill levels to be inspired to participate in a creative challenge that promotes the diversity of the Shire of East Pilbara.

20 entries will be selected by a panel of judges to be hung at the East Pilbara Arts Centre in the Martumili Gallery, the winner of each category will be announced at the opening night of the annual Outback Fusion Festival on 30 August 2019.

The 20 entries exhibited will then be judged by visitors to the gallery and a People’s Choice Award will be presented to the winning entrant in late September.

The competition theme is “Pilbara Perspectives”.  What does living in the Pilbara mean to you? What images come to mind when you think about the East Pilbara?  What sort of people, places, things, and animals do you love?

  • Primary School –  Year 1 to Year Six
  • High School – Year 7 to Year 12
  • Open Category
  • Professionals Category  
Children who are attending Primary School or High School are more than welcome to enter the open category. The open category is for amateurs who do not receive any income from their photography. The professional category is for professionals and semi-professional photographers. Please see Terms and Conditions for more details.

Image Requirements
  • All entries must be submitted in landscape orientation;
  • All entries must be submitted electronically through the online form. The image must be a High Resolution JPEG or JPG and be at least 2500px on the longest side and must not exceed 10mb. Do not watermark or put any identifying branding on the images.  This is to allow the images to be judged anonymously;
  • All images must be named as the title of the image and include the entrants name;
  • All images submitted must be taken in the 2018 or 2019 calendar year.

Subject matter is restricted to the locality of the Shire of East Pilbara.
The 20 winning entries selected for the exhibition will be professionally printed.  Your entry fee will go towards the payment of this service.  After the exhibition finishes the framed image will be returned to those entrants who were selected for exhibition.
Entry Fees
To enter the competition, you must be living, visiting or working within the Shire of East Pilbara.
If you are under 18 years of age, you must have consent from a parent, carer or guardian.
The fees are as follows:
Primary School $5 per entry
High School $10 per entry
Open Category $20 per entry
Professional Category $20 per entry
Please note: Each entrant can only submit a maximum of 2 entries.

All entries submitted will be presented and judged by a panel chosen by the Shire. Winners of each category will be announced at the Outback Fusion Opening. 
The exhibition will then be open to the public to vote on their favourite entry. The entry with the most votes will be deemed the winner of the People’s Choice Award, to be announced at a later date.
