2019 candidate profiles

The Western Australian Local Government Elections will be held on 19 October 2019.  Nominations for candidates open on Thursday 5 September 2019 and close 4:00pm Thursday 12 September 2019.  The following nominations have been received:

Are you Eligible to Vote?

If you live in or own rateable property in the Shire of East Pilbara and meet the relevant elibility criteria, then you are entitled to vote at Council elections.  However, in order to do so you must be enrolled either on the State Electoral Roll for an address within the Shire, or on the Shire's Owners and Occupiers Roll.

If you are enrolled on the State electoral roll and you are listed as living at an address within the Shire of East Pilbara, then you will be automatically included ont he local government electoral roll for this Shire.  However, if you are an owner of occupier of property within the Shire of East Pilbara but are enrolled on the State roll at an address outside the Shire, or are not currently listed on any electoral roll, then you must apply for inclusion on the Shire's Owners and Occupiers Roll.

Nominations for candidates open on Thursday 5 September 2019 and close on Thursday 12 September 2019 at 4.00pm. 

Nominations can be made online using the WA Electoral Commission portal

You can prepare the nomination form, profile and photograph online.  However, you will still need to meet the Returning Officer to submit your nomination.  Please retain the reference number when you nominate online, as you will need to provide this to the Returning Officer.


mandatory induction session prior to nominating

If you are thinking about coming a Councillor at the 2019 Local Government Elections, then as part of this process you must complete an online induction prior to nomination.  The induction doesn't take long and is available on the website of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (click here to view and complete).

Please see below a list of deadline dates:
  • 5 September - The nomination period opens for potential Councillors.  Nominations must be submitted to the Returning Officer.
  • 12 September - The nomination period closes at 4pm for those wishing to nominate as Councillors.  REMEMBER - a mandatory induction session must be undertaken prior to submitting your nomination.  The induction is available online with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries website.  You will be asked to declare that you have completed the online induction when filling out your nomination form.  It is an offence to make false or misleading statements on the nomination form.
  • 19 October - Vote count and declaration of results.
