Free slushies and fairy floss is sure to be one the highlights as part of the celebrations for Youth Week WA 2018 from April 13 - 21. But it's not all about the sugar! Young artists will also have plenty of opportunity to improve their artistic skills and be part of the first exhibition at the new youth art gallery with the chance to win prizes. There are also free drawing and music lessons, dance lessons, movies, cooking, swimming, BBQs and much more as the Newman Youth Centre hosts the week-long celebrations. And it all kicks off this Friday 13th with movie night at the Square and a screening of A Monster Calls.
This year the Shire is presenting an exclusive week-long event for parents only which includes a podcast session with Dr Justin Coulson followed by “Let’s Talk About It” - an open session with Newman parents joined by our Youth Expert Panel.
"Every year the Shire of East Pilbara presents a jam-packed calendar of events to celebrate the young people of the East Pilbara and this year we are pleased to include parents in the line-up for Youth Week WA. As a community we all have a responsibility to our youth, so I would like to encourage parents and carers to make time to attend one or all of the parents events," said Shire President Lynne Craigie.
"The Shire of East Pilbara is passionate about our young people and our vision has been to create for them a sustainable future in the East Pilbara so they can always call this region home. It's important that our kids know how valuable and precious they are so please join me as we celebrate them this Youth Week," said Shire President Lynne Craigie.
Youth Week WA is an annual celebration of the positive contributions of young people to Western Australia and is presented by Propel Youth Arts WA in partnership with the Department of Communities.
