“Each year, Harmony Week provides us with the opportunity to explore and enjoy the cultural differences we are privileged to enjoy in the Shire of East Pilbara,” said Shire President Lynne Craigie.
‘This year, after receiving funding from HealthWay to promote the LiveLighter message, we are using LiveLighter Harmony Week as an opportunity to encourage our community to stop and think about their health, and build skills which will help to make lifestyle changes.”
Proudly supported by BHP, this year’s celebration will be held on Saturday March 16th at 18:00 pm at the East Pilbara Arts Centre.
The event will include a multi-cultural concert, children’s games, an international buffet ($5 per plate) and free sausage sizzle. Perth band, De Cuba Son will be the headline act at the multi-cultural concert.
To help make the dinner a success, the Shire will provide funds for all ingredients as well as access to a commercial kitchen. If you would like to prepare and share a dish representing your own cultural heritage contact Ann-Marie Maddocks Events Officer on 9175 8000.
The Shire is also encouraging guests to walk to the event with an incentive to go into a draw to win a $100 Woolworths Gift Card.
Harmony Week runs from 15–21 March every year and encourages everyone to experience, explore and appreciate WA's wealth of cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic diversity.
