The temporary camping site at the corner of Boomerang Oval opens today and will operate for three months allowing visitors to camp for up to three nights. Bookings will be managed by the Newman Visitors Centre in Newman and change room access will be provided.
“This is exciting news for residents as well as visitors to our beautiful region, and just in time for the school holidays,” said Shire President Lynne Craigie OAM.
“We are being rewarded for our patience during these tough few months of lock down due to the coronavirus and now we are slowly seeing our region open up. Council is particularly excited about the new temporary camping site at Boomerang Oval in Newman. This is a fantastic initiative that will provide additional camping options to our visitors as well as an opportunity for Newman locals to enjoy the great outdoors without a long distance drive.
“It’s also fantastic to see the reopening of the popular Nullagine Caravan Park and bookings can be made by calling the Shire office. I’d also like to remind everyone our beautiful coastal region Cape Keraudren is open to visitors and this is yet another amazing place to visit in the East Pilbara.
“Whilst these new freedoms are wonderful, it is still imperative that social distancing guidelines and stringent hygiene practices are still in place. Please remember, our country is still in the midst of a pandemic and we must continue to do our bit to make sure we control the spread of COVID-19 by following the recommendations,” she added.
