BINGO! Bike Week returns to the East Pilbara for 2019

Bike Week celebrations will return to the East Pilbara this year following the Shire’s successful application for funding from the Department of Transport.
“Bike Week has been a popular event across the Shire for several years now and our funding application success is great news for our community,” said Shire President Lynne Craigie.

“We have always been a sports-loving and active community so can I encourage you to leave your car at home and enjoy this annual celebration of bike riding,” she added.

Bike Week celebrations will take place in Newman from Friday 15 March to Sunday 24 March and will include the inaugural ‘Bike Bingo’. Events will also be held in Marble Bar and Nullagine with bike repair lessons, a colouring competition and a community ride.

Bike Week is presented in partnership by the Department of Transport and WestCycle with the aim to promote and encourage riding for transport, fun and/or a healthier lifestyle.

What is Bike Bingo?
Bike Bingo (Sunday 24 March) will encourage teams of two to five riders to solve riddles, directing them to a location where they will complete a challenge to receive a sticker for their Bingo Card.  The team which completes their Bingo card with all nine challenges first will be declared the winner.

Registrations for Newman’s Bike Bingo are now open on

Every bike rider who registers for the event will receive a free Bike Week Bag and free brunch at the end of the race. Participants will not be able to take part unless they are wearing a safety helmet.
